Hello and welcome!
If you are here, you might be experiencing BIID, be a friend or relative to a person experiencing BIID or just discovered that BIID exists and want to know more.
Most people have never heard of BIID, some find it impossible to understand it, and research is still in its infancy on this condition.
Nonetheless, this condition causes a lot of distress in affected individuals, also due to the lack of available support.
Who are we?
We are a group of volunteers working to expand knwoledge on BIID in the UK.
We aim to:
- Raise awareness on BIID
- Remove the stigma associated with BIID
- Create a support network for those suffering from BIID, their relatives and their friends
These might seem like a set of simple aims. However, due to the nature of BIID, these simple aims are paramount to an ever-lasting impact on the community at large.
How do we hope to achieve these aims?
Awarness of a condition means understanding the challenges of the individuals who are affected by it. We want to give visibility to the evidence on the condition, as well as the individuals experience of BIID. SHARE YOUR STORY and send us suggestions to reach our “simple” aims. WE CANNOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU!
This is the only way to remove the stigma surrounding it.
Secondly, through this site and our work, we aim to co-create a set of free resources for people with BIID and their families as well as clinicians, easy to access and to understand. The website builds the common ground of knoweldge that is needed to develop a support network.
